A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I have a full time job working remotely for a software company. I spend most of my evenings & weekends with my paints, with some reading and video games sprinkled in.

2. Why do you make art?

It's fun and reminds me to appreciate the small details around me. I pay more attention to the sunsets since I started painting, or how the leaves in my neighborhood glow in the moody light of a cloudy day.

3. What inspires you?

Color & experimentation. I love big, bold color and unusual combinations. Even once a painting is complete, I often want to tweak something and try it again to see what will happen. I am a sucker for new techniques and new supplies.

4. What/who are your influences?

Practically too many to name - there are so many talented people in the world, and their amazing work is at our fingertips via social media and the internet. Studying with Angela Fehr put me on my current path of focusing on palette knife watercolor, and enjoying the process instead of focusing on the outcome.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

N.K. Jemisin, one of my favorite contemporary writers, so I could get the inside scoop on how the books I love came about. Plus she likes video games too, so we could nerd out about that!
